When you think back to your favorite childhood memories, there's a good chance a park is part of them. Whether it was racing to the swings, rolling down a grassy hill, enjoying a family picnic, or exploring a nature trail, parks have always been places where children can play, imagine, and grow.
From neighborhood playgrounds and community parks to national parks and even exciting theme parks, each one offers something new to discover. No matter where your adventure takes you, parks create endless opportunities for children to move their bodies, use their imaginations, build friendships, and connect with the world around them.
This week, we're celebrating all things parks with playful activities that encourage movement, mindfulness, creativity, and exploration. Whether you head to your local park or bring the experience indoors with a little imagination, this theme is a wonderful reminder that some of the best learning happens through play.

This Week's Activities
This week's Parks lesson encourages children to explore, move, and use their imaginations. Here are just a few of the activities included in the lesson:
🌿 Five Senses Mindfulness Before the adventure begins, children are invited to slow down and notice the world around them. What can they see? What sounds do they hear? What do they smell? This simple mindfulness activity helps children become more present as they explore the sights, sounds and scents of the park.
🌞 Playful Yoga & Movement Get little bodies moving with a playful sun salutation, the featured Bridge Pose inspired by a playground slide, and fun movement songs like Shake Our Sillies Out and Boom Chicka Boom. These activities encourage children to build strength, coordination, and confidence while having fun.
🔍 Binocular Craft Using simple materials, children create their own pair of binoculars to take along on their next park adventure. Once they're finished, encourage them to search for birds, flowers, squirrels, or anything else that catches their eye!
🏖️ Playground Sand Sensory Bin Bring the park home with a sensory bin filled with playground or kinetic sand, buckets, and shovels. It's a wonderful invitation to open-ended play while strengthening fine motor skills and encouraging creativity.
🤸 Hopscotch Yoga This playful twist on a playground classic combines hopscotch with yoga! As children make their way through the course, they'll pause to practice a yoga pose, adding movement, balance, and mindfulness to a favorite playground game.
📚 Storytime & Meditation The lesson ends with a themed story followed by a calming guided meditation, giving children time to relax, reflect, and transition peacefully after an exciting day of play.
