Have you ever stopped to watch the clouds drift across the sky or listened to the sound of rain tapping against the window? Weather is something children experience every day, making it the perfect theme for curious minds to explore.
From warm sunshine and cool breezes to fluffy clouds and rainy afternoons, weather gives children endless opportunities to observe the world around them through their senses. Every day brings something new to discover, encouraging children to ask questions, make observations, and connect with nature in meaningful ways.
This week, we're exploring all things weather through playful activities that encourage mindfulness, movement, creativity, and hands-on learning. Whether you're watching the clouds roll by, dancing in the rain, or creating your own weather-inspired crafts indoors, this theme is a wonderful reminder that learning can happen in every season.

This Week's Activities
This week's Weather lesson encourages children to observe, imagine, and explore the world around them. Here are just a few of the activities included in the lesson:
☁️ Five Senses Mindfulness Children begin by slowing down and noticing the weather around them. What do they see in the sky? Can they hear the wind or the rain? Is the air warm, cool, or breezy? This mindfulness activity encourages children to become more aware of the world through their five senses.
🌦️ Playful Yoga & Movement Get little bodies moving with a playful sun salutation, the featured Half Lift Pose inspired by rain, and a fun scarf dance to Do the Weather Dance. These activities encourage children to move, stretch, and express themselves while exploring different types of weather.
🌈 Weather Sensory Bottles Create sensory bottles that represent different kinds of weather like sunshine, clouds, wind, and snow. As children shake and observe each bottle, they'll enjoy a hands-on way to talk about the different seasons and weather patterns.
🎨 Rainy Day Watercolor Craft Using watercolor paint and cotton balls, children create a rainy day scene complete with fluffy clouds and colorful rain. It's a simple craft that encourages creativity while connecting art with the week's theme.
🌬️ Weather Parachute Game Using a parachute, children work together to create everything from a gentle breeze to a booming thunderstorm. This cooperative game combines movement, imagination, and teamwork while bringing different types of weather to life.
📚 Storytime & Meditation The lesson ends with a themed story followed by a calming guided meditation, giving children time to relax, reflect, and wind down after a fun day of exploring the weather.
